The Science Experiment
In Mr. Smith’s science class, students were excited about a new
experiment. They were going to learn about different materials and
their properties.
Mr. Smith showed the class a magnet. “This magnet can attach to
metal,” he said. He placed the magnet on a metal board, and it stuck!
He then warned, “Be careful! Avoid touching the hot plate. It is very
hot and can burn you.” The students stepped back to stay safe.
Mr. Smith pointed to a rock. “This is a common rock. You can find it
almost everywhere,” he explained.
He held up a jar. “This jar can contain water. Let’s fill it up!” The
students watched as he poured water into the jar.
“Now, let’s talk about animals,” Mr. Smith said. “Some animals have
ways to defend themselves. For example, a turtle hides in its shell.”
Mr. Smith showed them a plant. “Plants produce flowers. Look at these
beautiful blooms!”
He mixed baking soda and vinegar. “Watch the reaction!” he
exclaimed. The mixture fizzed and bubbled.
“Scientists do research to learn new things,” Mr. Smith explained.
“They study and find out more about the world.”
He held up a bottle. “This liquid is a substance. It’s like water, but
different.”
Finally, Mr. Smith said, “A theory is an idea that scientists have. They
test it to see if it’s true.”
The students were excited. They had learned so many new words and
had fun with the experiment!
