What is multiplcation?
Multiplication is repeated addition, but it is also the inverse or opposite of division.
When we divide, we look to separate into equal groups, while multiplication involves joining equal groups.

When dealing with multiplicative comparisons there are a
few key words that you need to know and understand:

As Many As : is how we are going to compare our
factors or the numbers we are multiplying

The Equal Sign (=) means: “IS”
Example: 2 x 5 = 10
10 is 5 times as many as 2 or 10 is 2 times as many as 5

Variable = Unknown
● The Unknown is what we do not know in the problem
or equation.
● We use letters to represent the Unknown or the
Variable
Example:
b x n = a
a is b times as many as n
