Protein, Carbohydrates, and Fats

These are possibly terms you have heard before, but sometimes they have meaning or context added to them incorrectly:

"I'm trying to cut carbs"
"Fats are bad"
"I'm lifting so I need more protein"

These statements are not necessarily WRONG, but they only are true in certain contexts

A small amount of salt is important - you can actually die without it. But salt is added to a lot of products, and often in amounts that can be unhealthy over a long period of time. Too much salt can lead to health issues, but the main issue is often it is hard to tell how much salt food contains.

Sodium/Salt

Sugar adds no nutritional value, but it does make things taste good. Like salt, it is often hard to tell how much sugar is in a product, especially if it is very processed. On a food label, look for "added sugar" and prepare for a bit of a shock.
