Quotation Marks

Quotation marks are used to show when someone is speaking

Quotation marks look like this: “ ”​

•Quotation marks go around the actual words a person speaks.

•Quotation marks go before the first word that is spoken and after the last word that is spoken.

When do you use quotation marks?

1) Keep quotation marks at the beginning and end of speech

​3) Begin direct speech with a capital letter.

4) Make sure your speechh is correctly punctuated. This includes a piece of punctuation before closing the quotation marks.
