In this unit, you will explore the concept of how you affect other people, both near and far. To explore this topic, you will read:

  • the short stories "The Moustache" and "The Chicken That Crossed the Road";

  • a nonfiction article, "At 15, Scientist Gitanjali Rao made history";

  • the poem "The Young Sor Juana"; and

  • a selection of essays from the book Real Kids, Real Stories, Real Change.

Each one of these works will help you deepen your understanding of how you affect other people.

  • This unit takes a close look at the expected and unexpected ways you affect other people as you investigate the unit inquiry question, "How do I affect other people?"

  • You will examine articles, poems, videos, and short stories that explore this concept.

  • You will complete two quizzes and one assignment along the way.

  • You will also create a narrative that illustrates how you affect others.
