  • Mora's poem is about Sor Juana, a Mexican nun who lived from approximately 1651 to 1695. One of Mora's hopes is to honor her Mexican heritage.

  • Sor Juana is an excellent figure for Mora to include in her poetry since she was a gifted person who defied expectations. She was born to a single mother who forged her own path.

  • Sor Juana's intelligence impressed everyone she met, and it was clear she needed further education.

  • Additionally, they act a little like conjunctions because they connect a dependent clause to the rest of the sentence.
