The Scar

The “scar” is mentioned on page 10. The “scar” is the area where the plane crashed on the island. It left a huge imprint on the island, and so it is described as a scar.

The Platform

Ralph and Piggy discover the platform. It is a raised area made out of pink granite and covered in dirt and grass. Some trees that have grown on it provide some shade.

 

The platform overlooks a lagoon, a pool of water separated from the ocean by coral or sand. This lagoon is about the size of a basketball court, and filled with clear, warm water. It will serve as a meeting area and as a stage for someone to speak on.
