Split model tests help you to test specific parts of a prototype. They focus on a small area of an overall design in order to save time and material. Split model tests are especially powerful when you have a CAD model, which can easily be divided into small-scale exploratory models.

Identify a specific part of a design that you'd like to experiment with.

Step 1

Focusing only on your chosen area, design several small-scale models to test.

Step 2

Make and test your small scale models. Move forward with the most promising design or create additional split models based on your testing.

Step 3

5

If your model is very large, you can shrink the size.

Scaled down

This split testing method is great for pieces that needs to fit into each other.

Example: Fidget Spinner

The center ball bearing measures 22mm

Print several holes with various diameters to test which the bearing fits into it best.

Lower Print Quality

There are several ways you can lower the print quality in Bambu Studio.

- lower the wall/perimeter count (faster print time and less material)

- increase the layer height
(faster print time but about the same material)

- lower the infill percentage
(faster print time and less material
