  • Summarizing is an excellent way to:

    • share information

    • check comprehension

    • practice active reading

    • aid long-term understanding of a text

  • There are multiple strategies to write a strong summary, if you need a reminder, click through the slides on page 3 of your edio lesson

The 5W's help you select the main details from any type of text. Think about what you read and ask yourself:

  • What is happening?

  • Who is involved?

  • Where is it happening?

  • When is it happening?

  • Why is it happening?
