Spelling Comparative Adjectives Rules
Rule Type
Comparative
●Add -er
○smart = smarter
●Change the “y” to “i” and add
-er
○happy = happier
●Use “more” + adjective
○ famous = more famous
●Examples:
○good = better
○bad = worse
●Double the consonant and
add -er
○big = bigger
