“BEHOLD THY DICTIONARY!

Good vocabulary comes in handy, especially in
contests like these. In most cases, people who
often read literature have an advantage for they
see lots of words frequently.

Using this knowledge, a dictionary can come in
handy. Flip through the pages, read words you are
unfamiliar with, and sometimes it helps to also
know the definition, as an easy way to memorize it.

“BOOK ONE, GRAB MORE...

Remember when we said that people who read
literature have an upper hand?

Why not try to posses that same advantage, and
use it to your own? Sometimes, reading books
anywhere, especially the LLRC, can help. Percy
Jackson, Harry Potter; any can do.

Sometimes, being immersed in the story, we may
find words that tend to stick out, given that it is
unfamiliar, and we, unknowingly, remember
exactly how it is spelled.

“INSPIRATION TONIGHT,
COME ON!

This method works really well not just for this
particular situation itself, but to other things too,
like games and sports.

Try to watch some spelling bee championship
videos, and observe the words and the
contestants.

Who knows, you might notice something and
obtain a trick from them that you can use!

“OVERTHINKERS
BACKFIRE.

In the day itself, try not to freak out and be
nervous, it’s just a game, remember. You should be
afraid if this was part of your grade, which it isn’t.

When the word to spell has been given, try to
break down the syllables, and listen very well to
the pronunciation. Then, using other words as
reference, try to figure out the spelling, if you have
no idea.

At the same time, don’t overthink too much, it
might be just literally the same spelling as it is
pronounced.

“DIARY VOCABULARY

And for the last tip for this presentation, is my
personal trick.

Us Bosconians have the same diary, with the same
pages. If you were to notice in between the
reminder text box and the remarks, there are little
text, which shows the word of the day.

Most of the time, the words given in the text are
unfamiliar, which some of them could be of use in
the contest, if you are lucky.

Try it out!

Want to go and give the spelling bee a try? No
worries, included in this presentation is an
interactive quiz, which may serve of help to your
preparation! Get a piece of paper, and try to listen and write down the spelling! Answers will be revealed in the end.

Each round is group by difficulty; Easy, Medium,
Hard.

Smart it out!
