Look at these sentences from our activity earlier in the week.
What do you notice about them?

Some verbs have a prefix that is separated from the verb when they are in a sentence:

abholen - to pick up

anrufen - to call up (on the phone)

anfangen - to begin

aufhören - to stop

aufwachen - to wake up

aufstehen - to get up/ to stand up

einkaufen - to go shopping

mitbringen - to bring along

mitkommen - to come along

Das Spiel fängt um 3 Uhr an.

When a separable prefix verb is used in a sentence with a MODAL verb, the entire verb gets KICKED to the end of the sentence.

Meine Freunde möchten zu der Party mitkommen.
