What is the writing process?

The writing process is the steps and methods that writers use to create a finished piece of writing.

These steps include:

• Prewriting/Brainstorming

• Drafting

• Revising

• Publishing

This is the first step of the writing process.

It is the planning phase of the writing process. This is the stage when writers brainstorm, research, and outline ideas.

Diagrams for mapping out their thoughts are often used. During this stage, writers should consider their audience and the purpose of their writing.
