Music software is a great way for musicians and performers to apply their learning of music and also to create music. In this lesson, you will be learning about the program and where to find the functions you will need in order to complete your project.

The treble clef is the clef that is used for notes that are of a higher range. Some of the instruments that use the treble clef are:

trumpet
flute

The bass clef is used for notes that are lower in range. Some of the instruments that use the bass clef are:
bassoon
tuba
cello
double bass

Throughout this unit, you learned about certain musical symbols that help in the organization of music.
One of those symbols is the measure, which is like a bar that helps separate the music on the page so that it is easier to read.
You also learned about the time signature.
The time signature is two numbers stacked one on top of the other, and it tells you how the measure is to be read.
The top number tells you how many beats are in a measure. The bottom number tells you which note gets the beat.

A note that receives one beat of sound
Quarter Note
An eighth note is a note that gets half a beat of sound and is often paired with another eighth note to equal one beat.
A quarter rest means that there is a beat of silence.
