Fanboys words are used to separate two independent clauses or parent sentences with the use of a comma. A comma comes right before the fanboys word.
Example: I like to read, and my sister enjoys painting.
He plays soccer, but she prefers swimming.
They study hard, so they get good grades.
Compound Sentence
An independent clause contains a subject and verb, and can stand alone as a complete sentence:
Independent clause: I love going outside.
A dependent clause also contains a subject and verb, but it cannot stand alone as a complete sentence. Instead, it ADDS information to the sentence:
Dependent clause: when the weather is warm.
One independent clause + one dependent clause = a complex sentence:
I love going outside when the weather is warm.
When the kids play outside, mom likes to cook.
