Pronunciation of 〜ます ...masu

✨ Today you will learn some expressions that end in 〜ます (~masu):

🌞 おはよう ございます (Ohayou gozaimasu)

🙇‍♀️ よろしく おねがいします (Yoroshiku onegaishimasu)

In Japanese, the ending 〜ます shows politeness and is used when speaking formally or respectfully. It’s added to verbs and common phrases to sound more polite 🗣️✨.

Also, you might notice that the “u” sound at the end of words like Ohayou gozaimasu or desu (desu) sounds very soft 👂. Japanese speakers often pronounce it lightly, almost like a whisper, and they don’t round their lips when saying it. That’s why it can be hard to hear at first!
