What are transition words?
Think of them like road signs! Just like signs help drivers know where to go, transition words help readers understand what happens first, next, and last in a sentence or story.
Transition Words
🚀 To show order:
First, next, then, finally
(Example: First, I brushed my teeth. Then, I went to bed.)
🤔 To show contrast (differences):
However, but, on the other hand
(Example: I love chocolate; however, I don’t like dark chocolate.)
💡 To add more information:
Also, in addition, furthermore
(Example: I love pizza. In addition, I enjoy pasta.)
📝 To explain a reason:
Because, since, therefore
(Example: I wore a jacket because it was cold outside.)
