What does the word resistance mean?

According to Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary,
resistance means “an act or instance of resisting; an opposing or retarding force.”

When thinking about people resisting something, there are several questions to consider:

  • How does a person oppose a force?

  • Is violence required, or can a person peacefully resist a force?

  • Or is resistance more about the will to live and the power of hope?
