Emoji art by digital artists creates a long-lasting impression on the target audience. Digital art also gets promoted when spreading awareness for a certain brand or cause. In May 2015, the conservation charity WWF had started an emoji-based fundraising campaign to help support the organization’s work.

Jake Parker, a visual artist and graphic designer, formed and popularized a challenge called Inktober in 2009. The challenge was to improve inking skills by creating one ink drawing every day in October and posting it on social media. Since 2016 and over time, artists have also posted digital art. The challenge grew into a worldwide endeavor with thousands of artists participating. The ink challenge is now celebrated annually during October.
