Nouns are the names of people, animals, places and things. There are four types of nouns.

Common Nouns
Common Nouns are the names that we give to people, animals, places and things.
People - boy, father, girl, baby and mother.
Animals - butterfly, ladybird, caterpillar, cat, hen, bee, fish, dragonfly, frog and snail.
Places - beach, market, school, hospital, playground, airport, park and stadium.
Things - umbrella, bicycle, book, watch, basket, cup, bed, vase, plate and radio.

Proper Nouns
Proper nouns are special names for a particular person, place, thing, day and month etc. A proper noun always begins with a capital letter.
People - Mr.Lee, Mrs.Lee, Jason and Ms.Jennifer.
Place - Bangkok, Singapore, Cameron Highlands and Mount Kinabalu.
Thing - Milo, Proton Saga, Jalur Gemilang, Dettol and Colgate.
Days - Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Month - January, February, May, June and July.

Abstract Nouns
Abstract nouns refer to feelings, thoughts, ideas, qualities and other things that we cannot see, touch or feel.

Collective Nouns
Collective nouns are special names for group of people, animals and things.
People - an army of soldiers, a crowd of people and a crew of sailors.
Things - a bale of cotton, a flight of stairs and a string of beads.
Fruit and Vegetables - a bunch of grapes, a comb of bananas and a crate of fruit.
Animals - a litter of pups, a flock of sheep and a shoal of fish.
