The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is a short story first published in 1819 by author Washington Irving. An American author, Irving wrote this story while he was living in England. It is considered an example of early American folklore and one of America's first ghost stories.

The Headless Horseman takes place in a town called Sleepy Hollow. It is a peaceful and quiet town during the day. At night it is believed that the town was haunted because you might see a shadow move or hear something moan in the dark.

Ichabod Crane is the poor town school teacher. Ichabod had a love for food, and he also wanted to advance his position in society.

Katrina Von Tassel is the daughter of the richest squire in the valley. Ichabod Crane wanted to marry Katrina Von Tassel.

Brom Bones also wanted to marry Katrina Von Tassel. He liked to play tricks, ride horses, and have fun.
