A integer can be a fraction only if it can equal to a whole number after you simplify. can be a whole number and it can be in the negitives.

Example of a integer/ whole number: 5, -5, 3, 9

Example of integer/fraction: 12/4, 35/5, 81/9

2

  • What is an integer?

An integer is a whole number or an negitive number. The only reason a fraction or a decimal would be in the integer section is because it can turn into a whole number or an negitive number like -4.

    Example: -4,2, 12/4,

  • example of whole number turning into a decimal

  • You always move by two to the left

starting at the right.

2456 24.56

  • if you want to undo it back into a whole number just go back two spaces to the right

3

Why is there a fraction is an integer section?
Example

12/4

well the line in between the numbers means to divide in which is telling me oh I always have o divide the numerator by the denominator. 12 divided by 4 equals 3. And remembering a whole number can also be an integer. which means 3 is an integer. The only reason a fraction would be in the integer section is because it equals {once you simplify it to a smaller number} to a whole number.

4

How do we know if a number is an whole number?
Example:

30
30 is a rational number, an integer, and a whole number. The reason 30 is an integer is because an integer can not be a fraction or a decimal. It can only be a whole number or a negitive number that is not a decimal or a fraction.

5

How do we know if a number, decimal, or fraction can be a rational number?
Example:

3/4

  • The reason 3/4 is an rational number is if you look to see if the numerator and the denominator are integers.

  • I see here that 3 is an integer and 4 is an integer.

I see here that this is a rational number and not an integer. The reason it is not an integer is because it does not lead to a whole number and does not lead to a negitive number either.

6

A survey was conducted to determine the types of occupations of the 1,500 residents of a town. Th types of occupations are shown bellow in the circle graph

25%

25%

15%

30%

?

Based on the graph, how many have an occupation?

7

If 100 people were survey, how many people could we predict would have 5 or more vowels in their name.

vowels in name

number of vowels
