Surface Area of Cones

• Find the area of the circle on the bottom of the cone using

   $\pi r^2$  

• Find the area of the side of the cone using  $\pi rl$  where r is the radius and l is the slant height of the cone.  

Example 1

Area of the circle.. $\pi r^2$ so (3.14)(6)(6)

+  $\pi rl$  so (3.14)(6)(10)=


301.44  $inches^2$
