Rhyme Scheme

  • A pattern of rhymes that typically appear at the ends of lines of a poem

  • the repetition of an initial (beginning) vowel or consonant sound in nearby words

  • "And then we slept so soundly on the sands close by the sea"

Consonance

  • The repetition of consonant sounds with different vowel sounds

  • May appear at the middle or end of the word

  • It is the SOUNDS that count

  • the same letter may have different sounds: wise and base
