Adding and Subtracting Multi-Digit Decimals

Adding and subtracting decimals is similar to adding or subtracting whole numbers. You must first align the numbers by place values. Then add or subtract from right to left, and regroup when necessary. 

When adding or subtracting decimals:

Find or place the decimal point.

Align the numbers by place value.

Fill in empty spots with zero.

Add or subtract.

Bring down the decimal point in your answers.
