What is a Pulley?
Because a pulley is an example of a simple machine, it's purpose is to make a load easier to move. Pulleys require a wheel and axle in order to guide the rope or string that you pull to make the object move.
effort
force
axle & wheel
3
How do Pulleys work?
A pulley specifically is used to lift up a load. How exactly does a Pulley work?
In order for a pulley to work, you must pull one end of the object which creates an upward force from the other end of the rope. That will increase the wheels upwards force.
400n / 2 = 200n so the force used is 200n 200 is the ma canical advantage Has to pull 2m since 1m on each side of the load As you pull 2m it goes up 1m So 200 efort x 2m of work = 400 Jueles

What is a gear?
A gear is the main purpose of transferring motion and power. A gear is also the function of reducing speed and changing directions.
9
How do gears function?
Basically, when one gear starts moving the others start to work. The smaller the gear moves the faster they move without force and bigger gears are the opposite.
When thinking about gears functioing it makes me think of us working on a group project. One person starts the work and the rest start as well.
