1. Most stories have a beginning, middle and end.
2. The beginning of a story introduces and describes the people, place and time of a story.
3. The middle section of a story usually describes the action or the things that happen to the people or in the place of a story

4. The middle section of a story can have several paragraphs so the writer can describe more action. This is where the writer sometimes includes something surprising or unexpected.

Now that you've figured out the components and the elements of your short story, there is something else you need to do before you start writing. Most writers have a draft written out before they write their story. A draft is the first version of your story and it is where you write the most important events in the story.
