We use "and" to connect two similar ideas.

SO

We use "so" to explain the effect something.

-He is deaf so he can't hear you.

-Brian is fat, so he can't run fast.

-I have got an exam tomorrow, so I'm studying hard.

BECAUSE

We use "because" to explain the cause of something.

-She always gets poor marks in the exams because she doesn't study.

-I want to go to bed early tonight because I'm to tired.

BUT

We use "but" to join two contrasting ideas.

-They like swimming but I hate milk.

-I like cheese but I hate milk.

OR

We use "or" to join two choices.

-They can go swimming or stay at home.
