2
Chronological Order
Events in a story usually go in order of time.
They take place one after the other.
3
Flashback
Sometimes, writers will stop the sequence of events, in order to visit past events.
This is called a flashback.
A flashback explains how the past affects the present, and gives more information about the characters.
4
Foreshadowing
Sometimes, writers will give clues or suggestions about what will happen later.
This is called foreshadowing.
Foreshadowing creates suspense and makes you want to keep reading, watching, or playing.
