Meusebach-Comanche Treaty

What was this treaty?

A man named John Meusebach

brought a group of families to settle right in the middle of Comanche Country (usually a treaty has to go through a government, but this was a special case)

They received a land grant from the United 

States to survey and settle an area in Texas 

between the Llano and Colorado Rivers, 

prime Comanche hunting grounds.

No one would come to this land because they were afraid of Comanche attacks.
