Constructing Congruent Segments

Construct a segment congruent to Line segment AB.

​

1. Draw a line using a ruler.

2. Mark a point on the line. Call it point C.

3. Get the length of line segment AB. Then, align the ruler to the line you made in Step 1. Place the "zero" mark of the ruler at point C. From "zero" make the same length as line segment AB by marking the other endpoint.

4. Call the other endpoint as point D.

5. ​The two endpoints and everything in between the two endpoints make line segment CD which is congruent to line segment AB.
