Our number system is a Base 10 number system.
There are 10 different digits.
Each place in a number is worth 10 times more the place to the right.

ONE is the smallest whole number.
A decimal point is a small dot that always goes AFTER the ones place.
Numbers that come AFTER the decimal are smaller than one.
They are fractions, or small parts of the number 1.
