How can I tell that a parallelogram is a rectangle?

By checking the diagonals! Use the distance formula to calculate and check if the diagonals and opposing sides are congruent, if they are, the parallelogram is a rectangle.

Second Theorem:

If the slopes of the opposing sides in a parallelogram are EQUAL, it's a rectangle ONLY IF the opposing sides are congruent.
