Doubling Rules
There are two rules to apply when you need to figure out whether or not to double the final consonant when adding a suffix.
We will focus on the 1st rule today.

1+1+1 Rule
The1+1+1 Rule states that is a suffix that begins with a vowel is being added to a word it has to:
1. Have 1 syllable
2. Have 1 SHORT vowel
3. The vowel should be followed by 1 consonant

What's considered a vowel suffix?
Suffixes like -ed, -ing, -en, and -er are some examples.
There are others like -able, -ible, and -age to name a few more
