2

Draw

Find the 5 differences between the pictures

3

Last class....

Rigid Transformations

There are 3 rigid transformations: Reflection, Rotation, Translation

After the rigid transformations, the OG shape and Image are the same shape, size, same everything.

We say the two shapes are CONGRUENT

4

First, Some Vocabulary...

Congruence -In geometry, congruent means identical in shape and size. The figures will have the same side lengths and same angles

Let's test your understanding of the word congruent!

5

Multiple Choice

Question image

Are these figures Congruent or not congruent?

1

Congruent

2

Not Congruent

6

Multiple Choice

If Triangle ABC is the original, what transformation occurred to give you triangle DEF?

1

Translation

Reflection

10

Properties of Congruent Figures

11

Ways to show congruence...

2) Draw tick marks on sides and angles to state congruence!

media
media

1) Look at the sides/angles and see which sides/angles match

12

Congruent Vertices & Order

This tells us

Side A̅B̅ ≅ Side ̅E̅F̅

Side AB is congruent to Side EF

Side AB corresponds to Side EF

(Make sure that your corners match. Order of

vertices (corners) matter!)

13

Once we determine the triangles are congruent...

We write a congruence statement to say

two shapes are congruent

ΔABC ≅ ∆FEG

*Triangle ABC is congruent to Triangle FEG*

(Make sure your vertices (corners) match when writing your congruence statement!)
