Finding equivalent ratios in a table

• Remember to write each section of the table as a fraction and simplify the fraction

• Use that simplified fraction to find the missing value in each box

Solving equivalent ratios in a table

• Write the first ratio as a fraction

•  $\frac{4}{36}$  

• Then Simplify  $\frac{1}{9}$  

• Use this number to find the missing values in the equivalent ratios

•  $\frac{1}{9}=\frac{x}{45}$  x=5

Converting between decimals and percents.

• When making a percent a decimal move the decimal to spaces to the left

• When making a decimal to a percent move the decimal two spaces to the right

• 0.25 = 25%

• 87% = 0.87

• 8.79% = 0.0879

• 1.259 = 125.9%

Finding the percent of a number

• turn the word "of" into a multiplication sign, and convert the percent to a decimal and multiply

• 40% of 80

• 0.40 x 80

• 32

25 is 50% of what number?

• Sometimes you are given the part and the percent and you need to find the whole. Use the same equation

• Turn the word "is" into an equal sign

• Turn the word "of into a multiplication sign

• Turn the percent into a decimal

• 25 = 0.50 x what

• Solve for the missing value

Decimal division

• Write the problem in long division form

• Move the decimal in the divisor and dividend

• divide, and move the decimal to the quotient
