What does it mean to be a "solution"

• A value that makes the sentence true when you plug it into the equation or inequality

• x = 12 : {12}

• x < 12 : {11, 10, 9, 8, 7, etc.}

There is ONLY ONE solution for this equation.

--> x has to be equal to 12 for this sentence to be true

There are MANY solutions for this inequality.

--> x can be 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, etc. but it cannot be 12.
