• Roanoke: Settlement began in 1587

• ​Home of Virginia Dare (first English baby born in the New World)

• ​Virginia was the grandauther of leader John White

The Mystery of Roanoke

• John White, left Roanoke to get supplies from England

• He returned to find it abandoned

• ​He had to leave quickly because of a big storm

• ​All he found was CRO carved into a tree

• Jamestown: First successful English settlement (1607).

• They brought 104 all male settlers.

• Located near the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia.

• One of the 13 original states
