Lyric poems convey an exact mood or feeling by the reader. They do not tell a story.
The poem speak directly to the reader and asks for the reader's sympathy.
Can resemble a song.

Lyric poems are usually short, and they imply- rather than state directly- a single, strong emotion.
The word lyric comes from the word lyre (lir), which refers to a stringed instrument something like a harp. In ancient Greece, people used to recite poems to the strumming of a lyre.
