Mass

• To measure mass, scientists use either a balance scale or pan balance

• The unit of measure for mass is grams (g) or kilograms (kg)

• Mass measures how much matter an object has

• A scientist will often measure the mass of an object and compare its mass to another object using the words heavier or lighter, more or less mass.
