Introduction to Pattern Sequences

  • Pattern Sequencing is when a list of numbers increases or decreases depending on a certain rule.

  • The pattern or "rule" will stay the same throughout the entire list (sequence)

  • For example. What should the next number be: 4, 7, ?

    • Hint: What is 7 - 4?

13

Why is this important?

  • Pattern sequencing is important for improving your problem-solving skills, a fundamental life skill.

  • It trains your brain to make predictions and identify patterns

    • These are both skills you'll need for not only math but also in life.

  • Gives you practice with basic math functions

14
