Length is...

  • Measurement of how long something is end to end.

  • Common customary units used in the United States to measure length are inches, feet, yards , and miles.

  • You will need to be able to estimate the length of an object and determine which measurement unit is best.

Customary Lengths

  • A foot is 12 inches, or about the length from your elbow to to wrist.

  • A yard is 3 feet or about the height of your desk.

  • A mile is 5,280 feet or about how far you can walk in 15 minutes
