There are many different symbols in math but we will focus on the multiplication symbol. If you use a keyboard you use x as the multiplication symbol.

How to stack numbers

  • First you find out what you multiplying. The factors is what you multiply.

  • Next you put one number on top of the other number or leave them sideways.

  • Add the other parts

Multiplying is like a group with numbers inside. For example 2x2 there are 2 groups of 2. So 2x2 is 4. Or you can stack the numbers like on the last page.

how to find the answer to a multiplication problem

Step 1 stack numbers. Step 2 figure out the 2 factors your multiplying. Step 3 add groups if needed (make sure you make the top factor into groups). Step 4 add bottom factor into each group. Step 5 add both numbers in groups together. Step 6 add the total to the problem.
