Verbs: Past Tense

  • A past tense verb shows something that already happened.

  • Form the past tense of most verbs by adding -ed.

  • If a verb ends with e, add -d. If a verb ends with a consonant and y, change the y to i and add -ed. If a verb ends with a vowel and a consonant, double the consonant and add -ed.​
