*For percents greater than 100% and less than 1% you will still use all of the strategies we have been learning*

D -> P swoop swoop!

D <- P swoop swoop!

3

Write 0.2% as a decimal AND a fraction in simplest form

  • Step 1: Swoop 2 places to the LEFT to create a decimal. In this example we have a percent that contains a decimal, you want to swoop to make it JUST a decimal. After swooping, I would get 0.002

  • Step 2: SAY the decimal number. What you say is what you write as a fraction. (2 thousandths, 2/1000)

  • Step 3: SIMPLIFY THE FRACTION. (Divide top and bottom by 2 to get 1/500)
