​Point of View

​Point of view refers to who is telling or narrating a story. A story can be told from the first person, second person or third person point of view (POV).

​A journal is typically written in first person point of view.

​1st Person Point of View

​In first person point of view the narrator is a character in the story, dictating events from their perspective using "I" or "we."

​Love letters are usually also written in first person point of view.

​2nd Person Point of View

In second person, the reader becomes the main character, addressed as "you" throughout the story and being immersed in the narrative.

​"Can you hear me?"

​3rd Person Point of View

In third person point of view, the narrator exists outside of the story and addresses the characters by name or as "he/she/they" and "him/her/them."

The narrator of a story usually talks in 3rd person point of view.

​Theme

​Theme is the main idea or the underlying meaning of a literary work which is conveyed by an author and interpreted by a reader.

​The theme of the movie Onward is family.

​Characters

​A character is a person or other being in a narrative (such as a novel, play, television series, film, or video game).

​Link is the main character of the The Legend of Zelda game franchise.

​Setting

​The setting of a story is the location and time frame in which the action of a narrative takes place.

​The setting of most of the movie Shrek is the kingdom of Far Far Away.

​Conflict

​The conflict involves a struggle between two opposing forces, usually a protagonist and an antagonist.

​Plot

A plot is the sequence of events that make up a story.

​Resolution

​The resolution is the conclusion of a story's plot and is a part of a complete conclusion to a story. In other words it's the end of a story.
