Science: Precipitation and Water Cycle
Adventure starts NOW!
2
Look at this! Do you ever wonder how the water gets on earth? The answer is: the water cycle! The water cycle is the circulation of water from the land to the air and back again! So we never ever run out of water! Lets see how it works!
3
Lets start evaporation. It is the first step of the water cycle. Evaporation is when the water turns into vapor, or air.
4
Multiple Choice
What is evaporation?
When liquid turns into vapor.
When water comes down as rain, hail, sleet,or snow.
5
Now lets look at condensation. Condensation is the change of the physical state of matter from the gas phase into the liquid phase, and is the reverse of vaporization. Basically, it turns back into water and now its filling up the clouds. When the clouds get full of water, they start to rain down precipitation!!
6
Multiple Choice

Now lets look at precipitation. This happens when the cloud gets full and needs to rain down. There are types of precipitation, hail, rain, sleet, or snow. Rain and snow are most common.
9
Multiple Choice
Water that falls to Earth as rain, snow, sleet, or hail.
evaporation
transpiration
condensation
precipitation
10
Multiple Select
Select all that are TRUE!
Snow is a precipitation.
Rocks can also fall as precipitation.
Humans can damage the water cycle.
The water cycle is not essential for life on Earth.
11
Lets go to the LAST step. When water falls back to earth surface, it may collect in oceans, lakes, or rivers. When water falls onto land, it can either soak into the ground and become ground water or evaporate and start the whole cycle over again.
