​Roots are the basic form of a word. When adding more letters to a root, it forms a new word.

Ex:- ​act is a root.

Action is a word made up from the root act.​

Affixes

Affixes are some word addons, which can change the root to any new word. When we see the word Affixes, you might might remember the word fix. That's it! Fix is the root of Af-fix-es. The af- and the -es are examples of affixes.
