• Fragments: Missing a subject, verb, or it doesn't make a complete thought

• Comma Splice: Comma splices are forms of run-on sentences that join two or more separate, complete thoughts into one sentence using a comma instead of the proper form of punctuation or adding a conjunction.

How to Fix a Fragment

• If it is missing a subject, make sure you add a subject.

• If it is missing a verb, add a verb.

• If it does not make a complete thought, add something to it, so it is a complete thought.

How to Fix a Comma Splice

• Divide the two independent clauses up by a semicolon.

• If a comma is dividing up two independent clauses, add a coordinating conjunction (FANBOYS) to avoid the comma splice.

• Use a punctuation mark in place of the comma.

• Rearrange the wording so it does not contain two independent clauses.
