Always remember!
Space Figures are also called solid figures. They are made of plane figures. They are called 3D or 3-dimensional figures because they have length, width and height.
Plane figures are 2-dimensional or 2D figures. They only have length and width.
Solid figures are concrete but plane figures are not. Plane figures are made up of closed flat figures.
51
A cube is a solid with 6 square faces, 12 edges, and 8 vertices.
A rectangular prism is a solid with 6 rectangular faces, 12 edges, and 8 vertices.
A pentagonal prism is a prism that has 7 faces (2 pentagonal and 5 rectangular faces), 15 edges, and 10 vertices.
A hexagonal prism is a prism that has 8 faces (2 hexagonal and 6 rectangular faces), 18 edges, and 12 vertices.
Always remember!
52
Always remember!
A pyramid is a solid with triangular faces and any polygon for its base. Its number of faces, edges and vertices depends on its polygonal base.
A cylinder is a solid figure with 2 congruent circular bases that are parallel to each other. It has 3 faces, 2 circular edges, and no vertex.
A cone is a solid figure with circular base, a vertex outside the base, and a curved surface. It has 2 faces, 1 circular edge, and 1 vertex.
A sphere has curved surface only. It has 1 face, no edge and no vertices.
